Woody Tells All...

Woody here.  Remember me...Mom and Pop brought me inside the house from the cat shelter cuz Al was picking on me?  Well, I am out of my kennel now and busy exploring this new place.  I don't know any of the cats here except Tabitha but they all seem nice enough.  At least no one is picking on me.  I can get a fresh start and reinvent myself!  I like the bedroom and bathroom with the windows to see out.  I can watch the cat shelter where my brothers are.  I really like TV - so fun to watch all the colors and moving things on it.

I still want to find good hidy place but  don't think I fit under here.  I like when Pop pest me but then I get too excited and want to find someplace quiet to regroup. I think I'll go under the bed for a while.

This is me last night letting Pop snuggle with me on the bed. I even let Mom pet me too. This place may not be so bad after all.  And I keep running into Rosa under the bed and behind the sofa.  Maybe we can be friends.

Mom wanted me to tell you what happened around here after Thanksgiving.  It has been a wild weekend - with me moving inside and then then Thanksgiving.  On Friday we had high winds and the phone lines went down and the Internet too.  On top of this Mom has had to go to work 8 days straight cuz someone was out - boy is she pooped!  Today is cool and rainy and we are all just gonna stay home and snuggle with Mom, watch TV and nap!  What are you doing today?

We are joining Cats on Tuesday!  And if you haven't already, please stop by our friends at Hubblespacepaws - they lost their sweet Winnie.  Click on the pic on the sidebar to go there.

Joey's Thanksgiving Gotcha Day Commentathon

“True benevolence or compassion, extends itself through the whole of existence and sympathizes with the distress of every creature capable of sensation.”—Joseph Addison

This week we want to celebrate our Joey's Gotcha Day by thanking all of you who rescue pets - whether you adopt shelter animals, care for ferals, run a shelter or just treat animals with kindness any way you can. In particular we want to thank Chrystal (you know her from her blog Daily dose of Dogs (cats with your coffee)) by making a donation to her private rescue organization. For every comment you make from Wednesday thru Friday this week, we will donate 50 cents to her rescue efforts.

Younger Joey on the porch of the old house.

Now on to Joeys story.....We will never forget the Thanksgiving of 2001 cuz that was the day we caught Joey and brought him inside to live with us. He had been getting beat up by some other cat outdoors and came by with yet another injury so Mom tricked him into coming on the enclosed porch on Thanksgiving morning while Pop was making the turkey. Getting him inside was one thing but they spent a good part of the day trying to catch him to keep him confined in a kennel to let him get used to being inside with all of us. He was great at hiding and fitting into tiny places so he was a tough kitty to catch but they did! Read more about his actual Gotcha Day here.

Joey on the heater.

Joey should be the poster boy for rescued feral cats because he is so loving and easy going. We are thankful for his good nature. He is always the first to welcome the newer cats into the house, gets along with everyone and loves to cuddle (next to eating). He gets excited easily when Mom loves him up and bites her hand but not too hard. Being the only male in his group, he is happiest snuggling with any of the lady cats in the house or being squashed between two of them getting groomed. He is small boned but with a droopy tummy that kinda waddles when he walks. When he is happy and playing he skips sideways like a little kitten, tummy bouncing everywhere. He loves sitting on the heater in cold weather or baking in front of it. He is a joy to be with and we love him sooo much.

Please help yourself. to the catnip, treats and toys and enjoy the party!

Mom has not posted or visited much this week as she brought Woody inside (Woody's post ) and has been trying to make him feel safe and comfortable, has had doctor appointments for herself cuz she is not feeling well and is working more hours cuz of the holidays. She will try to get by to visit you this week for sure. Please stop by and read Chrystal's blog, make a donation or just follow her wonderful adventures in rescuing homeless animals. Visit her here at Chrystal's Rescue.

Thanks to all of you for your efforts in helping homeless animals. Wishing you a blessed and happy Thanksgiving!
UPDATE  The commenatathon goes until Friday so keep passing it along for more comments! Mom had to work Thanksgiving and will be working  all weekend but will visit everyone to thank them the next few days. Thanks to all who have come by. Keep the comments coming!

Moving Mancats on Monday

Uh oh...they kidnapped Woody!

With cats, the hierarchy is always changing - this one swats that one and they end up being on a lesser rung until they win another round.  It was time to rearrange the cats again.  A few months back Mom had moved Tabitha from the cat shelter to inside the house and she was settling well.  Al is a bit of a bully and was relentlessly stalking her, causing her so much stress she was having UTIs all the time.  She has not had any since bringing her inside. Al behaved for a while and then began to hound Woody.  Nothing helped the situation so the beans decided it was time to bring him in too.

Woody is a very timid feral. He has bonded with Pop since his workshop is in the cat shelter.  Mom left the carrier out there in hopes that Pop could scoop up Woody and bring him in.  It finally happened and now Woody is inside with us in a large kennel to let him settle in.

Minnie was the first one to check him out.  Woody was very vocal and fascinated with the TV!  Next came Chica but she only wanted his food.

Yoko preferred to be on top in the comfy bed - Woody was the least of her concerns.  Meanwhile Mamacita and Rosa ran for the farthest room and would not have anything to do with him. Most  of the cats showed mild interest and then wandered off or had absolutely no interest in Woody at all.  Mom doesn't think he will have any trouble with any of these guys.

Sweetpea staked out the heater.

Mamacita say far away is best.

Minnie found her spot on the laundry.
Woody had a wild night howling and trying to get out but today went better.  Mom was able to handle him and sit with him so if he seems like he is ready, they will let him have the bedroom and then move out to the house in general. They hated to separate him from all his siblings but this is the best thing unless they can make Al his own place - still a possibility if he doesn't behave!

Hope your Monday is going better than Woody's. Did you have any excitement in your house over the weekend?

Femme Friday

We are sooo excited to be hatted by the talented and creative Mom Judi of Sammy and Andy from Sammy and Andy's Place..  There are a lot of ladycats in this household so we are doing a few at a time.  This week we are featuring....drumroll pelase.......

Demure Darby

Spectacular Sweet Pea

and Legendary Lily!

Don't they look so glamorous?  We are just thrilled. Thank you so much Judi - you did a great job as always!

We did not do our usual Forever Friday post this week to bring you this splash of glam but we would like to ask your help in rescuing some kittens.

Winging Cat Rescue has been trying to save some adorable kittens and we have their photo with the Chip-In button below it in our sidebar.  Thanks to you the ones we posted yesterday who were in dire need have been rescued.  Please pass this picture on, Tweet it, post on Facebook or donate even a small amount to help get the funds needed by Saturday November 20 to rescue Bonnie and Clyde! Every little effort counts and Sammy and Andy are the proof of what we as a group can do! Thank you each and every one.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Darby on Tuxie Thursday

With all us cats, some of us get overlooked for blog time.  I told Mom I had not been on in a while so today is my turn. I real happy cuz Pop came home from a trip to see his family in Texas.  Mom didn't go - she stayed home to take care of us. It's a lot of work for Mom to do alone.

And I am also happy that Sammy and Andy hatted me and two of my sisters this week.  We will be featured on their blog on Friday Nov 19 and on here on Friday too. I am soooo excited! Wait until you see my hat!

One more thing...this week instead of our Forever Friday. Mom wants to help two poor kitties on death row in a high kill shelter that uses a gas chamber.  This is an effort by Winging Cats Rescue of Facebook. Their Chip-In button is on our sidebar under their photo. Please help in any way you can.  They have almost raised enough money to rescue them - just a little more and we have saved two more kitties. Update - The money has been raised for these two and they are safe!.  Thanks so much.... but two tiny kittens Bonnie and Clyde also need our help.  See the Chip in posted on my sidebar or donate via Paypal to SpauldingUrgents@hotmail.com.

Thank you for stopping by and for helping.  If all you can do is pass this post on to help the kitties, that is enough. We all do what we can .

Thankful on Tuesday

Mom's friend Sallie gave us her old kitty condo for or catio!  She has two cats and they don't play with this anymore so she thought we would like to have it.  Wow we love this condo. It has four spots to hang out - two cubby holes and two platforms.

Mom was worried us guys would pee on it if it smelled like other cats and she couldn't find our Feliway so she sprinkled catnip all over it.  Al was the first to sniff it out and came over for a closer look.

He gets a little wild with nip!  Mom cleaned the condo up outside but trailed some leaves in with it.  Al is wearing some leaves too.

Pretty soon he got nipped out, going off to watch the birdies and chipmunks (it's even more fun when you are stoned on nip) and we all went to check this new furniture out. Whoo hoo...nip and on every level!

Two Spot in a cubbyhole.

Sam in the tube.
Pretty soon we were all bouncing off the walls and running wildy everyhwere.  Two Spot is hyper anyway so he was just running straight up the condo!  Doesn't he look a little crazy?

This a great surprise and we are loving it.  We all sit on it everyday.  When one of us gets off the other gets in that spot.  So far no fights!  All together now kitties--- "Thank you Auntie Sallie!"

Your help needed urgently
We want to help these two kitties who are facing death by gas chamber - please donate or pass this on - Pogo and Ping Pong!

Worldwide Moment

Today November 14 we will be joining  the Worldwide Moment to send loving thoughts and positive energy to our furred and feathered friends here and waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge. Our animal companions give us so much - love, friendship, laughter are a few of the benefits we get from them.  To find out more about this great idea and to join go to the blog of the Two Wires.

We have lost so many dear animals over the years - Bob and Leroy were sweet feral cats who disappeared suddenly when they were about 6 months old.  We never found any clue as to what happened.  Mom tried to help a couple of other ferals but they had health problems that were too serious and we lost them.  Others lived out their lives outdoors and finally died of old age or some unknown disease with Mom there with them to help them pass.

Ferals Big Guy and Nick have gone to the Bridge.

Mom had a sweet little dog named Bunny when she was a teenager.  They were inseparable.  She always loved animals and made friends with all the neighborhood dogs and cats. Losing them was like losing her own.  When she had a pet sitting business, she got to know donkeys, horses and even a pot bellied pig.
The pig, Rudy, passed while the owners were away and Mom was there with him sending Reiki light to help him find his way to the Bridge.

Rudy chowing down.

Our dear Clarence was a stray who wandered into our yard and charmed us all.  We only had him for 18 months when he died of cancer complications.  No matter how long or short their stay with us is, they capture our heart and take a piece of it with them when they go.

Charming Clarence.

Many animal friends have gone to the Bridge this year and we will send lots of healing light to their families left behind and to the ones still here who are ill.  We will be thinking of all those homeless animals on the streets or in shelters that they find a safe place to live out their lives.

Our time for the Worldwide Moment is 6PM - let's all simultaneously join together to send our light and love to all animals everywhere.  Namaste.

Forever Friday with Blanca

Meet Blanca. She was a feral kitten rescued by Debra Taylor in Arizona and placed in a loving home when she was 8 weeks old. Sometimes our forever homes are not forever for reasons beyond our control and Blanca's mom can no longer keep her.  She has to move and her new roommate has allergies so Blanca can't go with her. Her mom asked Deb to help her find a new home.

Blanca is a lovely long haired cat, white with apricot flame point markings. She is indoor only, spayed and about 2 years old. Anyone would love to have such beauty. Since she lives in Arizona she would need transportation to her new home. Please help find her a forever home for forever this time. If you know anyone who might be interested in adopting Blanca, have them contact Deb at 928 772-6826. To read more about Blanca, please stop by Deb's blog Homeless Cat Care.

Tortie Tosie Tuesday

Guess whose cute tosies these are?  Give up?  Mine - Chica's.  Mom has been sad that so many of our older friends on CB have gone to the Bridge. She appreciates having me around so she's giving me more blogging time.  That's OK by me. I told her I am planning on being here for a while yet. I am feeling and looking pretty good if I may say so myself!

Here I am waiting impatiently for Mom to get me my food. She can be a bit slow to get my snacks and meals to me on time!

Been doing a lot of napping since the weather is a little cooler.

And our goat TV has expanded to squirrel, bird and pony TV! The goat guy traded in some of his goats for ponies and donkeys. They make all kinds of funny noises. If  there is someone outside at night they make a ruckus - good watchdogs. We are putting bird seed out now that hopefully the bears are taking their winter nap so we have all kinds of critters at the feeders again.

That is all for now. Oh and Yoko is doing pretty good too for 17 - she did have a UTI a few weeks back but a round of antibiotics did the trick. Thanks for visiting!
