Chica keeping watch in front.
We are all on introoder later cuz there have been some funny things going on outside our house.
While Sweetpea keeps an eye out back.
One morning last week Mom noticed the bird feeder was missing from the branch on the tree in front. She went out and the hook it hung from was pulled down straight. She looked all over the yard and did not see the bird feeder so she headed up into the woods behind us. Not expecting to really find anything, she noticed something shiny under a tree a ways off the path - it was the bird feeder - empty but still OK.
The woods behind our house.
She took it back to the house to clean it up and refill it, noticing teeth marks on either side of the plastic - one BIG hole and an indentation on the other side.........what do you think it was?
Sorry about the fuzzies - Mom was so shook up!
A black bear! Mom never saw it but has had them visit before and this is what they do - either bend the feeder pole down to get the feeder or pull straight down to get it and then take it with them when they leave. The teeth hole was the final clue! No more feeders left out at night from now on!!!
UPDATE - we still have some sick kitties that could use purrs. Yoko had a really rough week last week and we thought we were going to lose her but she is doing much better on different antibiotics. Snowball is better but Only has a UTI! We wonder if it is the litter, water, food or something causing everyone to have this!!!

Our ancient Yoko
Mom feels like she is working at a animal hospital right now - we have two sick kitties. Yoko is 19 and has high normal readings for hyperthyroid for years and now has a UTI. She is doing better but Mom worries about her cuz of her advanced age. She is also getting sub c fluids along with Chica. You can see her fur is a mess - she has long since stopped grooming and it jsut mats up terribly. Pop cuts it off or combs it out but she hates that. It is hard to do anything for her without upsetting her.
Our big mancat Snowball has had his third UTI in a few months but he is doing better now. We think it is the stress of living with Al that is causing the problem so Al is separated from Snowball unless we are there to supervise. Al and Snowball will fight and pick on each other. We will have to see how this goes and then make some arrangement to build another room for Al in our cat house.
Snowball's catmom Lily checks on him too.
So you see how busy Mom has been giving meds, fluids and checking on everyone else. We hope to post more next week after things calm down. Wishing you all a super weekend. Any big plans?

Mom had a few days off this week and went down to see Marg of Marg's Pets. We had been by last fall and had hoped to get back sooner but Chica was not very stable with her CRF. Since Mom is doing fluids at home now, Chica is doing soo much better and we can leave her for a number of hours alone without any problems.
It was hot so we spent more time inside than last visit. The house kitties didn't come out except to peek from the doorway. Mom took pics of everyone she saw - hope she got the names right! It was a fun visit and we hope to get back again in fall when it is cooler.

Mom spent some time with Baby Doll and she is very sweet, loving and just eats up attention. We all need to help find her a home by herself as she does not like other cats.

Outside the cats we saw last time were not around but we saw some new ones. I guess everyone was trying to stay cool!
