Happy May Day!

Darby here today as the May Queen. The first day of May is May Day.  If you are not familiar with this holiday... a little history...May Day began as a festival to honor Flora, the Roman Goddess of flowers.  It became a more secular event  known for the tradition of dancing around the Maypole and crowning the Queen of May.  May first was the first day of summer in ancient cultures with June 21 being the summer solstice or Midsummer.

When Mom was a child (a lonnng time ago) she would make baskets of flowers to hang on the doors of her elderly neighbors.  At school they would form a procession and place a crown of flowers on the statue of Mother Mary.  A very quaint old fashioned holiday but we sure could use more of these nowadays!  Enjoy our garden flowers in honor of May!

Have your beans got any cool memories of May Days in their past?  Happy May Day to all our friends!

These came up for the first time this year - cool colors!

Introoder Alert!

Happy Monday ya'll!  Darby reporting today.  I've got introoder duty and am keeping an out out the window.

Introoder Alert!!!!  Mom left our kitty blankie out on the railing outside to air out.  A tiny chickadee found it and began to pick off the cat furs from it for her nest!

She spent a long time thoroughly digging into the blankie and pulling out all the furs! Isn't she yummy.
**ahem** cute?

Mom posted this pic on Facebook but I wanted everyone to get to see the introoder.  Have you had any introoders lately at your house?

Fun Friday - Experimenting with "Breading"!

Me Chica wearing a slice....
Chica reporting today...Some people put cute dresses on their cats or holiday Santa hats or bunny ears or even Halloween costumes for photo ops.  There is a new fad online using a slice of bread with the middle cut out to put over a cat's face.  Ideally you want it behind the ears so it looks like a lion's mane but any others way is good too.

Yoko gives Mom the raspberry for her efforts!

Most of us won't tolerate any item on us, be it clothing or bread, but Mom was able to get a few of our mellower kitties to pose for our "breading"  pics.  You may have seen breading cats on LOL cats and on Facebook,  South Park had a whole episode on it recently.  Nothing trick about it - it is really not hard to do.  Even Ivy let Mom put a slice of bread on her showing the many ways to wear the slice!

Ivy using one ear....

No cats were harmed for this post...just a little irritated!  We even got to nom a few bites of the bread too.

What's Up with the Whitsters?

Hey everybody, it's me Only,  napping with my sister Smidge.  We have had some warm weather the last few days so our screen porch is kinda warm.  Night are still cool so Mom hasn't taken down the covers just yet.  We get the fans on and the panels that open are open all day!  Not bad really! Lots to see with the birds, voles and crawly things.

Snowball here - let me sleep Mom - it's too hot and I just wanna nap!

I am Two Spot and I love the weather - never too hot or cold for me.  Mom hasn't posted about us in a while cuz she has her hands full with Chica.  She's OK but needs sub q fluids more often and the beans have been trying to do it themselves.  Not working so well.  Chica's a fighter!  I guess I'd be too.  I can't sit still EVER so giving me something would be impossible!!!

Me,  ***ahem*** hey I'm Norm.  I am kinda quiet and reclusive - I just like my privacy is all.  I prefer to be alone unless it's my buddy Snowball.  I love Snowball...I mean I like Snowball.  I said like didn't I?  I'm going back under the chair now Mom.

Hey ya'll I'm Lily, the mother of all these jokers!  I understand about wanting some alone time...I don't get that much. It's Mom can I this...Mom so and so won't let me do!  I love to mush up with Mom and Pop and sit next to them.  I can be a real mushball most of the time but that is just me.  Now that we are all caught up - just have a great day everybody!  See ya next time.

Happy Birthday Marg!!!!

Thanks to Ann of Zoolatry for this great graphic!

Today our post is honoring a very special lady - our friend Marg who writes the blog Marg's Pets.  Marg writes about  all her rescued animals - her cats, dogs and donkeys.  If it wasn't for her, many of these animals would be homeless  and struggling to survive on their own.  These animals are lucky to have her in their lives and so are we.  Most of you will recall Mom and Pop got to meet Marg and her critters last fall.  Marg is kind, caring, thoughtful, funny, a good listener and a wonderful friend.  Happy Birthday dear friend!  They don't make them better than you!

Yummy cake...

Marg, you are invited to teleport over here for a party! We have set up a special celebration featuring Marg's favorite character - Eeyore!  We have an Eeyore cake for all, ice cream, and Eeyore ears for all to wear.   We can even play pin the tail on Eeyore the donkey!!  Have fun everyone and join in the party!

Happy Easter!

Chica and goodies

Chica here today with our Easter weekend post.  As some of you may know I have had an unsettling week and had to go to the V-E-T three times this week for emergency sub q fluids.  It seems I am needing them more often now and Mom tried to give them to me but was not very successful!  She thinks she has the hang of it so we will see how it goes. I would much rather have her do it at home and not have to go to the V-E-T any more than I have to.  Otherwise I am feeling fine - eating and getting around as usual.

On a lighter note...our yard is full of lovely spring flowers - we have azaleas and  dogwoods in bloom now and the colors are just lovely!  All the trees are leafing out and soon we will be back in our private canopy of forest!  Enjoy the photos.

Woody on Mancat Monday

Pop left his belt on the bed the other day and I thought I would try it on for size.  I think it looks very dapper on me...what do you think?

We missed everyone and have been lurking even tho we have not been posting - Mom has been very bad and was working on her work blog and not on ours.  Hopefully we have gotten her back on track.  The cold shoulder works every time to teach her a thing or two!

Have a super Monday!!!
