Monday Memories

Mom was able to have the computer guy put all her old pics of us onto the new hard drive - so this is from when Tabitha, Only and Two Spot were young kitties and had just been taken inside.  As you can see Only and Two Spot were just as close then as now.

Mom kept them in the back bedroom until they got used to being with us.  Since they were kittens it did not take them long until they had the run of the house.

We are playing Blue Monday today so join in too (the cats are on a pretty blue blankie)!

We Are Back and Forever Friday

We got a new hard drive put in our old computer and all the stuff on it was saved - altho it is in files. Mom has her work cut out for her to set it all up again!

We will do our usual Forever Friday and hopefully Mom can find her photos for next week! We missed you all and know that so many things happened while we were offline - some sad and some good. We will be back visiting even if our blog posts are slow at first!

This week we are featuring a lovely long haired calico, Caroline of Animal Compassion Network in Asheville, NC. Caroline is the Diva of the Set, the Queen of the Castle, the Princess of Everything--whatever you want! She high-fives, knows tricks, loves treats, and sashays with the best! And ps, Caroline says, NO DOGS or doggie smells, as they ruffle her pantaloons in an almighty way! pss, no dogs, did I say that???

Click on the shelter name above to find out more about Caroline or how you can adopt her. Please pass this on so we can help find her a forever home!

Midnight Mosaic Monday

Here are all my midnight lovelies! Top left is Ivy squinting into the flash - her black coat is turning a bit rusty with age. Below her is Mamacita cuddling with a bunny, then Minnie curled up asleep in a basket and Rosa in a pretty pose. Finally little Sweetpea cuddled up against Mom's printer - doesn't seem very comfy but she likes it!
Hope you enjoy our contribution to Mosaic Monday!

Photo Hunt - Orange

Mom may have used this picture before but since we don't have any orange cats we gotta use our orange Garfield cat bed for our Photo Hunt this week - the clue is orange! We like to cuddle up in it when it is cold outside! Very snug and great for brothers to hang out together in. And it is special cuz it was a git from our Grandmommy who is no longer with us. Thanks Grandmommy!

Be sure to visit Photo Hunt for more orange pictures!

Fragrance Free and Forever Friday

This is Eureka, an older kitty available from the Animal Compassion Network. Eureka, Einstein, and Mocha are siblings who have lived together since 6 weeks of age. Life has been fine until recently when the economy tanked, and along with it went home. Eureka has lived with other cats and dogs, likes being held, and is very affectionate. She likes to knead your lap to show her love. She would be a great lap kitty alone or with other kitties.

This is sister Einstein, She is a bit of a loner, but dogs and cats are okay. If you don't want a clingy cat, but like a calm presence, she's your kitty!

Mocha is a looker--more Espresso than mocha latte, but just as yummy in kitty land! Mocha is really all cat--friendly, then quiet. She dictates the pace, and the pace can be love all the way. This senior would love to be adopted with siblings Einstein and Eureka, but a single home is good too. Cats and dogs have been in her life, and that is okay as well.

Please share their stories and help us find a forever home for these lovely older sisters - hopefully keeping them together!

Mom just found out that Aug 13 is Fragrance Free Friday and since we don't use any chemicals in our house (Mom has allergies) we thought we would share this info with all since chemicals can harm pets too.

SeaYu, makers of environmentally safe cleaning products has declared chemicals in fragrances unlucky on this Friday August 13! They are asking all of us to refrain on this day from using any chemical based fragrance whether it is cosmetics, air freshener or cleaning product unless they are environmentally safe.

According to their press release - Animals have faster metabolisms and smaller lungs than humans, so not only are they processing harmful chemicals used in the home more quickly, they are also breathing them in at a faster rate. Because animals are closer to the ground, they are more often in direct contact with these harmful substances making Fragrance Free Day of special importance for pet owners everywhere.

Fragrance Free Day gives concerned consumers a chance to help spread awareness of the dangers associated with fragrance/chemicals in personal care and household cleaning products. This awareness campaign comes at a time when, according a recent report by ABC News, “Congress and the cosmetics industry are both calling for tighter regulation of the chemicals used in cosmetics and other personal care products due to concerns over possible carcinogens and other toxic ingredients.”

For more details on Fragrance Free Friday click here. Let's make Friday the 13th a lucky one for us all!
P.S. in honor of Friday the 13th Minnie our black cat is featured on Black Cat Friday at Ollie's blog - go visit and say hi!

Tabitha on Tabby Tuesday

Here I am playing a fun game. It's called "attack Mom's feets under the covers." It's a lot of fun bu sometimes I guess I get carried away.
"
"What Mom?" "Don't Bite" she says. But that's the best part - that along with bunny kicking the feets. Oh well I guess I have to settle for cuddles and scritches instead. Have a great day ya'll!

World Cat Day 2010 - Aug 8

Sunday is World Cat Day! Since we have had cats of all colors and shapes, we are going to let you in on some neat cat color trivia.........

Did you know the first litter of purebred white kittens was born in A.D. 999 in the Impress Palace in Kyoto Japan? The cat loving emperor Ichijo was delighted and ordered the cats to be treated like princesses.

Did you know many tabbies have a clear "M" shaped marking on the forehead? Legend has it that this is the signature of Mohammed who marked his blessing on his tabby cat Muezza after it saved his life by killing a snake?

Tortoiseshell cats are regarded as lucky in many countries including Scotland, Ireland and Canada. In Japan, tortie and whites are considered to be particularly lucky and are called Mi-Ke. Fisherman like to have these cats aboard to protect from storms.

Black cats during the Medieval days were considered unlucky but it wasn't always that way. In ancient Egypt, the Goddess Bastet was worshipped in the form of a lean, short haired black cat and sometimes as a female human with the head of a cat.One of the most popular deities of that time, she was a benevolent Goddess and the domestic cat was the animal most sacred to her. So sacred that harming a cat carried the price of execution. In mythology, Bastet was a deity who possessed nine incarnations - which may explain the concept of cats having nine lives.

Cats give us so much - they captivate us with their beauty, make us laugh with their antics, give us companionship when we are lonely, snuggle with us while we watch TV, keep our houses free of mice - our lives are enriched by their presence in our homes. Do something special for your cat, your neighbor's cats or the cats at the local shelter. Give them back a little of what they give us. Have a Happy World Cat Day!

Go visit and join in at Camera Critters and Bozo's for Pet Pride - we did!

Forever Friday with Katie

Katie is two years old and a sweet, outgoing girl wanting to be part of any and everything going on in the house. Since arriving in foster care she has discovered that playing with cats other than her sister, Taffy, can be great fun.

Katie has proven quite tolerant of dogs even if they're a little annoying. Her gregarious nature would make her a good fit for any home, including those with younger children.

Katie arrived in rescue when her family was no longer able to keep her because of pet restrictions. Katie is adoptable through a great organization called Alley Cats and Angels in the Raleigh area of NC. What makes them unique is that they will rescue feral cats and find homes for them. Let's help them find a great forever home for Katie! Share this on Facebook or Twitter!

UPDATE
Beautiful black Bella from the Asheville Humane Society was adopted. Another one off to her forever home!

Wordy Wednesday

Sorry Mom hasn't posted since last week - she has not been feeling well and had an appointment on Monday with a out of state holistic doctor to see if he can help her with her breathing issues (allergies and asthma). She had lots of paperwork to fill out and type up for him. The regular doctors didn't have anything new she could try except taking more prednisone - not a good thing for long periods of time. Her new doctor has given her a single homeopathic remedy to try so we will see. He was highly recommended by our holistic vets who Mom swears by. We will keep you posted on how things go.

We are all fine - no big news to report. It is still hot here but we did get some cooler foggy weather over the weekend. Same old same old - just napping, eating and watching goats TV!

Oh yeah - Chica has a new thing now - whenever she wants to eat or some water she sits next to Mom and swats her leg with her paw, over and over until Mom finally gives in. Kinda spoiled, don't ya think?

We will stop by and catch up with you all over the next few days! Thanks for coming by to see us. Happy Wednesday!
