Who is Who!

Visitors have asked Mom how she knows who is who with the nine white cats...so she will tell you how she can tell us apart!

This is Norm, who looks very much like Georgie, his sister and littermate - except he is larger with more jowls. Norm is very reclusive and quiet - the least tame of the guys.

Sam is Norm's littermate and Mom had the vet take the tip off his left ear when he was neutered so she could tell him and Norm apart. Sam is very quiet and tends to stay by himself unless he joins his brothers to eat from the dry food bowl.

Two Spot is Only's littermate and is smaller than the other boys with a narrow triangular face. He is very happy-go-lucky and is always playing and having fun.

Snowball lives up to his name - very large and round, with jowls. He is sweet and loving and is the head mancat - always sparing with Al!

Al is the only long haired cat with blue eyes and deaf. He is pretty easy to handle and loves attention from us. Sorry about the snoot on his nose - he gets black dirt than Mom has to clean off his nose.

Only is Two Spot's littermate and has big soulful eyes and just loves Mom. He does a little dance for Mom whenever he sees her, wiggling all over. He is much more nervous than Two Spot and will hide if anything is amiss in the shelter.

We have two girl cats - this is Smidge who always looks like a deer in the headlights. She is tiny and is Two Spot and Only's littermate. She loves to eat and be petted. She has gotten much better in the past year - she used to run and hide if anyone came near.

This is Georgie, Norm's littermate and almost twin. She is just a bit smaller boned and Mom does have trouble telling them apart. Georgie's very cuddly and sweet and loves attention - Norm does not. So that is the best way to tell who is who.

And this is Lily - the mom of all these cats. She is very sweet, loving and wants attention. She will run over to Mom to get some scritches! She has a round body with a more narrow face. She is very friendly and will be the first to greet Mom and Pop when they come inside.

We hope this helps explain how Mom tells them all apart and gives a little bit more info about everybody too. For more Cats on Tuesday visit Gattina!

Tagged on Thursday

Mom got tagged by Animal Shelter Volunteer Life - here's what we have to do. Go to the first photo file and open the 10th photo and tell the story behind it. Then tag 5 other bloggers.

Mom's first file is the one she has all her old photos from years ago that she has scanned on to a CD and put on the computer!

Obviously this is not a cat photo - this is Mom back when she worked in PR for the Mystic Marinelife Aquarium in Connecticut. With her is pal beluga whale Alex - in order to get Alex to be part of this promotion photo she had to feed him fish from the bucket and rub his gums! All the while trying to stay out of the pool, balancing on heels and holding her skirt closed! This was one of the usable shots - some others were pretty funny and not appropriate for family viewing!

So many of you have gotten this tag - please feel free to do it if you have not already! I know this is cheating but.......

Tortie Tuesday with Chica

Mom wasn't blogging for a couple of days to catch up on the house cleaning and yard work. I helped inside with the vacuuming! All the other cats are very afraid of this thing but not me! I will stare it right down - I even like the sucky thing on my fur - it feels tickly!

Everyone else runs and hides under all the sofas and beds. when Mom gets to that room they all run out again scramabling to get out of that room and hide in another place. Such silly cats!

After all that work, I had a long nap and lots of cuddlies with Mom. What did you do this weekend?

For more Cats on Tuesday be sure to stop by Gattina's! Happy Tuesday!

Flashback Friday with Yoko

This is me when I was a lot younger (I will be 17 this year) in Florida. I love to burrow under blankets and get all snug. Can you find me on the chair?

Here I am...I am a good hider huh? Chica used to always pick on me so I got real good at finding out of the way hidy places to get way from her. Sometimes I would even go up on the top shelf in the closet and snuggle in the sweaters!

Thanks to all of you who came by Darby's Gotcha Day Party the other day. We had so much fun!

Mom wants to tell the rest of the cow cat story - about the little black and white cat she drives by on her way to town. You all thought she should go ahead and send a note to the older man who lived with the cat.

Well she got a card and the address and was about to mail it when Pop told her he thought he saw the cat one day about a week or so later. He said he looked all dirty and rough looking. She didn't mail it, in case she was wrong and kept looking for the cat. The box and all the trappings on the porch were still gone.

Last week she drove by on her way into work on a warm day and the inside door was open to the glass exterior door and who should she see sitting inside looking out but cow cat! Yay!!!! It seems they took him inside after all these years.

Maybe he disappeared on an adventure and when he got back they decided to make him an indoor cat. His buddy still comes around and they do let cow cat out during the day sometimes too. She is so happy that he is OK even tho she won't see him outside as much as she did. Thanks to all who wrote comments and supported her idea of writing to the man. She is glad there is a happy ending!

An Award from Old Kitty

Mom is still still not feeling up to par but is using this week to tidy up and catch up. She got this award a bit back but hadn't got to posting it yet. It is from Old Kitty of Ten Lives and Second Chances. I guess she is supposed to tell seven things about herself. Here goes....

#1. Mom never had any kitties in her life until she was 36 (when she found our Chica) and living in Florida. Her mom was very allergic and they could never have cats in the house when she was growing up.

#2. Mom has always loved animals and made money as a kid pet sitting rather than baby sitting!

#3. Mom can't travel much now with all of us to care for but she loves to travel and has been to 30 states and Canada, Germany, France, Greece, Barbados, Bahamas, and Luxembourg.

#4. One of her favorite jobs was when she worked for an aquarium in CT - getting to see all the seals, beluga whales, dolphins and sea lions everyday was fun!

#5. She loves quirky movies, musical or otherwise - the Rocky Horror Picture Show and Little Shop of Horrors are two of her favs.

#6. She has more books in the house than anything else - we could fill a small library.

#7. She has never had to be in a hospital for any length of stay.

We would like to pass this award on to these seven new cat bloggers so we can get to know them a little better - Tales of Tigger and the Teach, Cokie the Cat, Hannah and Lucy , Ballicus Blog, the Meow cats (they count as two), Puss in Boats.

To meet other cat bloggers visit Cats on Tuesday! See you all on Wed for the big party!!!!

New VSquillion Adopted

We just adopted a new Angel VSquillion in memory of our beloved Manny.

Manny was Mamacita's baby and Rosa's brother. He was only 2 1/2 when he went to the Bridge. He had a UTI and got a blocked urethra before Mom could help him and the vet accidentally tore his urethra putting the catheter in - it is a hard procedure to do and he was young and fairly new as a vet. He wanted to do surgery to correct this but he was slammed that day and had to wait until morning to do it. Manny died overnight before the vet could do surgery. Mom had brought him home in case this happened so he was with all of us when he went to the Bridge. Mom is still very sad that this happened.

Manny and Rosa were very sick kitties when Mom trapped them and brought them inside. Manny is the one on the right in this early photo. He loved to chase after the red dot from the laser toy and would growl at anyone who messed with him while he was playing with it. He was so sweet otherwise - only the laser toy brought out this side of him! He was very shy but loved his momcat Mamacita and followed her everywhere. We miss you so much Manny and think of you every day!

Don't forget to stop by on Wed. the 17th for the big St Pat's/Darby Gotcha Day celebration! Everything will be green...it should be cool. Mom is still feeling poorly so bear with us while we try to catch up - we still need to pick up some awards and post them! She is getting so behind - we may need to hire a substitute to replace her if we want to keep up to date with our blogging!

Easy Sunday

This is me, Joe, and I am all snuggled up in the cube with Rosa. Mom and Pop both are sick with the flu thingy - Pop got it last week and Mom came down with it too. So... we haven't been able to blog much.

Boy with the computer virus and the bean virus - what is going on with the "bug" around our house? Before I forget...just want to tell you all that we are having a big celebration for St. Pat's Day and Darby's Gotcha Day on Wed. the 17th this week. Come on by to join in the festivities!

Happy Sunday - we will be napping big time and taking care of the beans! Mom will be by to visit you all when she feels a bit better!

White Watery Wednesday

Two Spot has a unique way of drinking his water....

Mom wants to thank all of you for all the birthday wishes...she counted the later ones in her donation so we ended up with a total of 43 comments.

We got our computer fixed - thanks to Pop! He called the computer place and they would not give us a deal even tho we had just had them remove the same virus. He was mad so he called Microsoft and a very nice young man in Mumbai, India helped him for over an hour on the phone and computer. They fixed it for free! That saved us $150. So give Microsoft a call when you have a PC virus. Don't waste you money on the computer store unless it just needs a complete overhaul!

For more White Wednesday or Watery Wednesday visit these blogs. Also if you haven't heard, Gattina's tortie Lisa went to the Bridge a few days ago. She could use some nice words to help her right now.

Flashback Friday!

With Mom's birthday this week she felt it appropriate to want to have a flashback to about 15-16 years ago. Here is a very young Mom, Pop, and Yoko and Chica who are very senior cats still with us!

You all helped Mom raise $17.50 for a donation to Animal Compassion Network for her birthday. Thanks for all your comments and good wishes. Happy Friday!

Tabitha on Tabby Tuesday

You may remember that Mom brought me inside from our shelter because Al was picking on me...well I am doing very well. The other cats either ignore me or accept me. This will get better with time.

I don't mind the other cats and run all over the house. I like to look out the windows, sleep on the bed and play with Mamacita and Rosa. I was friends with them both before. I think they remember me!

I think Mom made the right move to bring me in.

What's new in your house? For more Cats on Tuesday visit Gattina!

P.S. Don't tell Mom I told you but...her birthday is on Wednesday the 3rd! She even got the day off from work!

Monday Tribute

Mom has gotten quite attached to a cat she sees on her way to town and back. He is a cow cat - white with black markings. He looks just like Big Guy, (in the photo above) one of our ferals that went to the bridge several years ago. This cat sits on the front porch of a little farmhouse and obviously is an outdoor cat. An older gentleman lives there and they seem to have a warm bond. She looks for the cat whenever she goes by and he makes her smile.

In summer the cat follows the man around while he does yard work, sitting quietly next to him. There are chairs on the porch and the man put cushions on the chairs for the cat to sit on year round. In winter the man makes a box with blankets and puts it on the porch for shelter from the weather. This winter he made a very elaborate box, set it up high on a table and fixed a heat lamp to keep the cat warm. Mom drove by while he was building it and the cat was, as usual, sitting next to him on the porch supervising.

The cat has a buddy cat - a long haired black and white cat. They hang out together and sit on the porch waiting for the food dish to be filled. He lives in another house nearby but comes to visit often.

The other day when Mom drove by she noticed the buddy cat there alone. He was sniffing all over the porch chairs and stuff. She wondered where the cow cat was. Yesterday when she drove by, the man had taken down the box, the food dishes and all the cushions off the porch chairs. She was very sad cuz it means something happened to the cow cat.

She would like to send a note to the man even though she doesn't know him but does have an address. Do you think it would be weird if she did? It might make him feel better knowing someone else will miss his cat too. What do you think?

Thanks for listening and for any ideas! May this sweet cat fly free at the Bridge until his bean comes to meet him.
